
They used to worry about her and wonder why Estelle slept all day and stayed up all night. “It’s the stars,” she’d sigh in explanation of her nocturnal nature. But one day they realized it was she who cuddled the lambs after bad dreams, watched for the wolf, shooed the skunk and made them feel secure so they could wake refreshed each morning. From then on, the flock began their day only after they’d sung a lovely lullaby to their star, Estelle.
