She pleaded. She begged. She explained just how hard she’d worked; digging, packing, dumping, scooping, patting, smoothing and shaping. She even pointed out the tiny flag she had added as a final flourish.
She waited. She worried. She hoped her creation would be spared even as Ocean crept ever closer. Then something happened, not there on the beach, but in her brilliant little mind.
She exhaled. She grinned. She imagined the better, stronger castle she’d start tomorrow.
